Q. What measures can I take to unclog my toilet before resorting to calling a plumber?
A. One, pour a few cups of hot water into toilet bowl and try the plunger. The hot water can help dissolve the clog. If that doesn’t work, so long as the bowl is not overflowing, fill a bucket with hot water from the shower or sink and slowly pour it into the bowl (be cautious of an overflow). If that still doesn’t work, try squeezing 2-3 seconds of dishwashing liquid into the bowl, let it sit for some minutes, then try flushing again. If this doesn’t work, it’s time to call R&R Plumbing Services.
